Bailey came to us with a cataract in his right eye. A cataract
is when the lens becomes opaque or cloudy, instead of being clear.
When a cataract is complete, all functional vision is lost and is
similar to looking through several sheets of wax paper.
Fortunately, Bailey was an excellent candidate for cataract surgery
with a lens implant. We are able to break up and remove cataracts
using phacoemulsification and replace it with an artificial lens
that is made specifically for dogs. The success rate of this
procedure is 90-95%! Bailey is doing exceptionally well and
can now see great.
